What do YOU do when the noise in the city becomes too much?

I notice this all the time, and it seems that no one seems to notice or care. The noises are in unison or a new one picks up when the last noise ends: hedge-trimmers, weed blowers, neighbors shouting or blasting music, cars roaring, trucks thundering, and so on...
